what the site keeps

  • The text of each search and how many times it was made, so a repeated search is answered from cache. Nothing about who searched is stored with it.
  • Release details from MusicBrainz and cover images, shared by everyone who looks up the same record.
  • The main colour of a cover, measured by the first browser that shows it and sent back once, without anything identifying that browser.

what stays in your browser

  • Your library and collections, covers included, in this browser’s storage (IndexedDB). They are never sent to the site. Clearing the site’s data deletes them.
  • Two display choices, the share image shape and the poster header, in local storage.

hosting

The site runs on Cloudflare. Like any web server, it handles your IP address and request details to deliver pages and fend off abuse, and keeps short-lived request logs (a few days) for fixing errors.

other services

Fonts are served from this site. Lookups at MusicBrainz, the Cover Art Archive and Spotify are made by the server, so those services never see your IP address.

One exception: when a record has no cover in the Cover Art Archive but MusicBrainz links it to Discogs, your browser asks Discogs for that release’s cover. Discogs turns away requests from this site’s servers, so this one comes from your browser and carries your IP address and the Discogs release number, nothing else. Once one browser has asked, the answer is kept here and nobody’s browser asks about that record again.

Following a link out (musicbrainz ↗, discogs ↗, cover via … ↗) takes you to that site, under its own privacy policy.

Nothing stored here is linked to you, so there is usually nothing to look up or delete. Questions go to the contact at cnsh.dev. If you are in the EU you can also complain to your data protection authority.

Release data from MusicBrainz. Covers from the Cover Art Archive, Discogs and Spotify; cover images belong to their rights holders.
